CHRISTMAS.
AT THE SQUARE
Designing a Christmas world at full scale.
A multi-zone Christmas experience developed for The Square Tallaght, bringing spatial concept, 3D visualisation, environmental graphics, character and motion into one connected visitor journey.

01 / the challenge
Not one decoration. One connected world.
The brief was not to decorate a single location, but to create a coherent seasonal world across a working shopping centre — balancing storytelling, visitor flow, fabrication requirements and recognisable brand moments.
My contribution included spatial concept development, 3D modelling and visualisation, technical studies, environmental graphics and animated mascot content for the in-venue screens.

02 / the spatial system
One visual world, multiple spaces.
The same visual language extended beyond the main grotto into the Winter Garden, customer-service touchpoints, mall installations and supporting graphics — creating consistency across the full experience.

03 / the grotto
The story's main stage.
The main grotto evolved from spatial and traffic-flow studies into a detailed visual system prepared to guide production. The development explored scale, circulation, transparent display areas, lighting, moving elements, digital screens and the relationship between the tower, workshop and interactive rooms.

04 / technical development
Magic, with measurements.
Spatial studies turned the concept into build-ready decisions — testing circulation, scale, sightlines, lighting and screen placement before fabrication.

05 / designed for interaction
More than a backdrop.
The interior was designed as an experience rather than a backdrop, combining tactile activities, playful installations, digital content and character-led details throughout the visitor journey.

06 / supporting spaces
The world continued outside the Grotto.
Winter Garden scenes, customer-service touchpoints and smaller installations carried the same character, colour and storytelling language through the mall.

07 / a landmark within the mall
A portal into the Toy Workshop.
The travelator arch translated the Toy Workshop identity into a large-scale spatial landmark, designed around the mall's existing architecture, circulation and sightlines.

08 / the digital layer
Characters moved through the space, too.
Animated mascot content extended the physical world onto the in-venue screens, creating continuity between character, environment and digital touchpoints.

09 / from visualisation to real life
The idea left the screen.
From 3D studies and technical guidance to full-scale installations, the project demonstrates how visualisation can align storytelling, production and real-world experience before fabrication begins.
